20 Mar. Green man.

We went for a walk in the forest. It was cold, wet and misty. My wife and daughter wanted to go back. “Let’s take this path, it will take us back to the car”, I said breaking the fourth precept. The ground became very muddy. I lifted my daughter up and carried her through the bushes, stepping over fallen trees, jumping over creeks. Soon enough our shoes were completely covered in mud. My wife was giving me unhappy looks. So I started complaining as well, “Frecking mud, my socks are all wet…”. But in reality, I admired the mud, wet branches, blades of grass, leaves, everything. Very appropriately, I started humming a song: “The evening mists that creep and crawl will drench me in dew and so drown. I’m the green man, the green man.”
